We are looking to hire a Lab Technician!As a Lab Technician at MercyOne Genesis, you will:

• Be proficient in the procurement of blood samples via venous and capillary techniques, from -patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric.
• Utilize use of the Laboratory Information System -for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory orders from providers and to result laboratory -tests.
• Educate patients in the proper collection of specimens such as urine, stool and sputum.
• Review orders from providers, maintaining accuracy in ordering tests; occasionally must call -providers' offices to obtain orders. -
• Process specimens in the appropriate way, including -looking up specimen requirements, centrifuging and separating as necessary, and storing at the -appropriate temperature to maintain sample integrity and testing acceptability.
• Ready specimens for transfer to reference laboratories, including completing the required paperwork -for transfer and ensuring STAT specimens are processed and transported in a timely manner, -including calling a STAT courier and completing the necessary paperwork for the transfer. -
• Perform both waived and moderately complex CLIA testing in hematology, urinalysis, and -serology areas under the guidance and supervision of an MLT or MT. -
• Keep accurate records, -such as temperature monitoring, quality control for all laboratory testing and daily, weekly and -monthly maintenance.Schedule: -
  • 6:30am - 5:00pm
  • Rotating weekends
  • Rotating holidaysGeneral Requirements: -
    • Less than 1 year experience required
    • Medical Assistant or Certified Phlebotomist preferredEducation: -
      • High school plus additional course work up to 1 yearPay Range:
        • $17.04 - $24.70 per hour
