The Business Development Associate, North American is responsible
for writing and pricing technical proposals for multiple services,
including: formulation development and drug product manufacturing.
The Business Development Associate, North American Manufacturing
will act as the primary contact with Business Development, the
Technical Operations team, Project Management, Finance and Legal to
support proposal preparation and facilitate the onboarding and
execution of the projects from a business perspective.
+ Responsible for writing high quality proposals for various
service offerings, specifically in support of Formulation &
Development and CDMO services.
+ Leadership and management of the new enquiry process from
proposal generation through to tracking of the process.
+ Overall accountability for the Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost
(SQDC) process ensuring operations engagement with the process and
delivery of industry-leading proposals.
+ Management of Business Development (BD) engagement/interface with
the enquiry and SQDC process acting as conduit between BD and
operations.
+ Active participation in relevant BD/client meetings to strengthen
understanding of customer needs and deliver tailored proposals.
+ To review all new requests for proposals (RFPs); develop the
proposal plan and prepare questions for the client as required.
+ To understand the overall scope and requirements of all new
enquiries entering the system and directing workload accordingly
within the team. To include understanding where technical input is
required, the correct personnel needed for input, and the matrix
management of the cross-functional team to ensure delivery within
deadlines set.
+ Works cross-functionally within the organization to manage the
delivery of all proposals, estimates and change orders.
+ Review proposal draft and final versions of the RFP for;
thoroughness, accuracy, staffing, financial considerations, quality
and effective design layout.
+ Apply a continuous improvement approach to the template design,
seeking input from technical specialists in response to business
needs/changes delivering improved efficiency.
+ The job holder is required to work on their own initiative with
support from Director.
+ To work closely with Business Unit Directors, Business
Development team, internal teams and clients.
+ To maintain a consistent and high-quality impression of the
services offered by PCI by all stakeholders by means of proposals,
contracts and presentations and other forms of communications.
+ The Business Development Associate of North American
Manufacturing, will be required to be flexible to cover other
positions within the Global Clinical Proposal team as and when
required.
+ To undertake such special assignments to support the business
development Director and business development managers as requested
and to work outside normal hours when necessary, if required by
client program or special assignment.
+ **Stationary Position:** 3/4 of the day and up.

The following are some environmental conditions that one may be
exposed to on a daily basis and for various lengths of time.
+ Work is primarily performed at a desk and/or in an office
environment. for 3/4 of the day and up.
The noise level in the work environment is typically, quiet.
**Required:**
+ College Level Mathematical Skills
+ Bachelors degree (B.S./B.A.) in a scientific discipline,
communications, business or related field
+ Graduate degree level in life sciences or a minimum of five years
experience in contract development services similar to PCI.
+ Strong technical understanding of analytical services including
analytical development, transfer, verification, optimization,
qualification, and validation. Knowledge of the technical
requirements to support routine testing and stability programs.
+ Formulation development and/or drug product manufacturing
expertise
+ Ability to write highly technical proposals
+ Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills
+ Excellent planning and organizational skills
+ Ability to be flexible, motivated, resourceful, and organized;
Proficient in problem solving and strong mathematical abilities /
finance skills
+ Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Project and
Power Point). Experience of Customer Relationship Management tools
such as SharePoint and Salesforce preferred
+ Superior time management and organizational skills;
detail?oriented; Excellent written/verbal communication,
interpersonal and customer service skills and professional
demeanor.
+ Demonstrates ability to interact with and build relationships
with a diverse range of people who possess a variety of skills,
experience, and personalities at all levels of the organization
+ Highly independent, self?starter with an ability to take input
from all levels of the BD and Operations teams to create clear and
effective proposals
+ Demonstrated professional writing, proofreading, and editing
skills.
**Preferred:**
+ 3?5 years of hands?on proposal development and/or project
management experience preferred
+ Experience working in biotech/pharma industry and/or contract
manufacturing environment and experience with viral vectors for
gene/cell therapy highly preferred
+ An MBA is advantageous but not a necessity.
+ A strong understanding of the relevant parts of the
pharmaceutical development process relating to PCIs operation.
+ Must possess substantial experience of producing documents within
the Pharmaceutical Industry.
+ Familiar with regulations in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
+ Must have a high level of PC literacy and be proficient in all
Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Office,
PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
+ Knowledge of a CRM system and previous client-facing role an
advantage.
+ Previous experience in Proposal development is advantageous but
not a necessity.
+ Previous experience in working in Sterile Fill-Finish and
Lyophilization Manufacturing
+ Previous laboratory experience is advantageous but not a
necessity.
+ Previous experience in formulation and development is
advantageous but not a necessity.
