We have a direct hire, full time, permanent opening for an experienced CNC Machinist in Rockford. This is an opportunity to work 2nd shift, 2:30pm to 11:00pm, (2:30pm - 1:00AM on OT). PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will typically work on more complex parts that require the highest skill level and knowledge of all machining operations. You will ensure efficient functionality within the machining department with safety, quality, and productivity standards at the forefront.

Responsibilities include the set up and operation of CNC and manual machine tools. You will perform progressive machining operations while working under minimal direction with a heavy emphasis on machine set up.

Additionally, you will:

* Plan or verify operation to be performed and material to be used.
* Set up all tooling with appropriate stops, clamps, and fixtures.
* Monitor run to ensure parts are being produced to specification.
* Use measuring devices and blueprints/engineering drawings to inspect parts for tolerance.
* Visually inspect surface for appearance and non-conformities which may require repair.
* Complete the required documentation and reports at the completion of the job.
* Critically evaluate and contribute to improving the manufacturing process.
* Provide guidance or training for less skilled machinists.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

The ideal candidate will have an impressive attendance record with on time arrival and must work well in a collaborative environment. The CNC Mill Machinist must have the following knowledge and proficiencies:

* Machinist hand tools and measuring instruments.
* Ability to work to tolerances and apply statistical process control to machining.
* Understanding of a wide range of machining processes, safety factors and tool theory, including but not limited to, milling, turning, grinding, process planning and inspection.
* Machine shop applications & ability to prove-out
* Programming machine controls, CNC machine tools and/or computer aided manufacturing applications.
* Ability to prove-out

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

* Mechanical aptitude
* Quality focused mindset
* Basic math & basic computer skills

Preferred:

* High School diploma/GED or two year technical degree and technical training
* 1-2 years of relevant machining experience
* Experience with Makino machines
