Full-time positions - We Train! - This position requires varied hours, occasional weekends and the ability to work a flexible schedule. The right candidate must be willing to work outside and in a dusty environment, climb stairs and have dependable transportation with a valid drivers license with a good record. Summary : Collects representative samples of grain/commodities for laboratory analysis and oversees the weighing of containers, trucks, railcars and barges under the authority of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) by performing the following duties. - The term "grain/commodities" can include corn, soybeans, wheat, distilled dried grain (DDG), meal, edible beans and other processed products.
General Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned. - Duties and responsibilities may vary according to the type of carrier involved.
Performs a visual stowage examination of the carrier to ensure it is "Clean, fit and ready to receive grain".
Obtains a representative sample by appropriate means, including using a mechanical diverter-type sampler (d/t), swinging a pelican through the stream of grain, inserting a probe, or scooping the product from a moving belt.
Ensures security of the samples at all times, either by keeping them in sight or locking them in secure container to prevent tampering.
Completes daily log information/work records either by hand or by entering into a laptop or tablet.
Transports and delivers samples to the office.
Reports any discrepancies or issues regarding elevator personnel and compliance with USDA/FGIS rules and regulations to Location Manager.
Prepares various reports, forms and paperwork as required.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency degree, plus positive work history required. - Additional schooling preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions, simple correspondence and industry-specific information, including instructions and information provided by the USDA. - Ability to accurately and clearly complete forms and write reports. - Ability to effectively communicate and present information to customers and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions. - Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
Must have a basic understanding of computers and accurate data entry skills.
Other General Qualifications:
Must successfully obtain the appropriate federal sampler and weigher licenses within 90 days of employment.
Must be able to pass the Ishihara color-blindness test.
Must have a valid driver's license and personal motor vehicle liability insurance, if driving a personal vehicle.
Must be able to meet the insurability requirements of the company's motor vehicle insurance carrier.
Must be able to travel to various work sites at least 60% of the work week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform the following physical demands, which may vary depending on the specific type of carrier:
Talk and hear
Stand and walk, including standing for significant periods of time (i.e., several hours with only occasional breaks) during the loading of grain
Use hands to finger, handle, feel and operate tools and electronic devices
Use hands, arms and shoulders, including reaching overhead
See and distinguish colors
Smell, detect and identify delicate to distinct odor abnormalities
Crawl and crouch
Climb ladders and balance on carriers 10-15 feet high
Carry and utilize sampling and probing tools of 6-12 foot in length and weighing up to 15 pounds
Swing a pelican through heavily flowing grain to obtain sample
Operate a motor vehicle
The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds individually, and over 100 pounds with assistance.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, during all seasons of the year, along with dust and airborne particles, including dust generated from various forms of grain. -Approximately 95% of the work time is spent with varying levels of dust and noise.
The employee is frequently exposed to high places; fumes; and moving mechanical parts, vehicles and equipment. - The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
Hard hats, safety glasses, paper dust masks, ear plugs, and safety vests are standard-issued equipment. - Respirators and safety harnesses are available upon request at any time. - Other protective equipment that may be required for a carrier or location, including steel toe boots, non-slip shoes/boots and life vests.
