Job Description:
The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of
General Surgery, is searching for a full-time associate professor
or professor to serve as a senior academic breast surgeon and as
Director, Breast Surgical Oncology Program. The appointee will
provide longitudinal inpatient and outpatient care to patients
seeking breast care. Direct patient care responsibilities include
managing patients with complex surgical oncological needs and
limited off-hours and weekend coverage. As Director of the Breast
Surgical Oncology Program, the appointee will chart the future
direction and growth of Breast Surgical Oncology from an academic,
clinical, and educational perspective. They will provide and
oversee advanced clinical care for patients with breast diseases,
including both malignant and benign conditions. They will ensure
consistent and high-quality multidisciplinary patient management,
working with medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology,
radiology, and plastic surgery. The appointee will lead patient
evaluation, including risk assessment, and pre-surgical and
post-operative care and participate in weekly multidisciplinary
breast tumor boards to develop collaborative treatment plans. Other
duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and
students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation
are dependent upon qualifications. This position is

expertise in breast surgery, reconstruction, and survivorship.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1)
have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for
medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified
or eligible in General Surgery, and 4) have completed an accredited
fellowship or equivalent training in surgical oncology or breast
