Job Description Position Overview Health system in northern Illinois seeks a BE/BC Pediatric Hospitalist to serve as Medical Director, joining a team of nine providers within a large medical group of over 350 primary and specialty care physicians. A major $130 million expansion of womens and childrens services, including a new Level III NICU, supports a busy community-based pediatric practice with affiliations to pediatric subspecialists and a major academic medical center. Teaching opportunities include working with family practice residents and medical students, with eligibility for academic appointment at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. Practice Details - Provide leadership and vision to the pediatric hospitalist team. - Oversee clinical care delivery with nursing and administrative leaders, developing policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines. - Share pediatric department guidelines for patient care and establish collaborative relationships with emergency department staff. - Support pediatric nurse practitioners in the newborn nursery and promote high-quality, safe pediatric care. - Represent the group on key committees including Pediatric Department, Quality and Safety Subcommittee, Pediatric/ED Multidisciplinary Committee, and Womens and Childrens Service Line meetings. - Ensure timely scheduling, address quality reports, and meet regularly with leadership to set goals and discuss operations, cases, and collaboration. Candidate Requirements - MD or DO. - Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics. - Active Illinois medical license or ability to obtain prior to start. - Active DEA license or ability to obtain prior to or upon hire.
