One year of recent experience as a Pre/Post-Op RN/n/t - Valid RN
license in compliance with state regulations/n/t - Current BLS
(AHA/ARC) Certification/n /n/nPreferred Qualifications:/n/n /n/t -
ACLS Certifications/n/t - PALS certification/n/t - Other
certifications and licenses may be required for this position/n
/n/nSummary:/n/n The Post/Pre-Op Registered Nurse provides
specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia and
surgery. This role involves assessing patient health before and
after surgery, implementing care plans, administering treatments,
and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality,
patient-centered care. The Post/Pre-Op RN ensures patient safety
and comfort prior to and during the surgical recovery period, using
advanced clinical skills, effective communication, and adherence to
professional and regulatory standards. /n/nEssential Work
Functions:/n/n /n/t - Assesses patients pre-operatively, including
reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and
identifying potential risks/n/t - Prepare patients for surgery,
including educating them about procedures and post-operative
care/n/t - Receive and conduct comprehensive assessments of
patients transferring from the operating room and assess their
post-anesthesia condition/n/t - Monitors patients post-operatively
for complications and manages pain and recovery/n/t - Administers
prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved
nursing techniques/n/t - Maintains awareness of comfort and safety
needs of patients in the perioperative setting/n/t - Observes and
document patient conditions treatments, and significant incidents.
and responses to anesthesia and treatments, notifying the care team
of significant changes or adverse reactions/n/t - Takes
temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect
deviations from normal, assesses patient condition and responds
appropriately/n/t - Respond promptly to emergency situations
utilizing Pre/post op nursing standards, policies, procedures, and
protocols/n/t - Accurately document patient assessments,
interventions, and recovery progress in medical records/n/t -
Develop and deliver individualized patient and family education
plans, including detailed discharge instructions and recovery
guidelines/n/t - Collaborate with the surgical team and other
healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive pre and post-operative
care/n/t - Participate in patient handoff communications to ensure
continuity of care between units and departments/n/t - Operate and
monitor pre and post op-specific equipment, such as ventilators,
monitors, and infusion pumps/n/t - Perform other duties as assigned
within the scope of practice/n/t - Adhere to hospital safety
protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards/n
/n/nRequired Essential Skills:/n/n /n/t - Critical thinking,
service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills/n/t
- The ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language
is required/n/t - Ability to read/comprehend written instructions,
follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills/n/t -
Physical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about,
move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending/n/t -
Interpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of
personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive
attitude and professionalism/n/t - Technical/Motor Skills - Ability
to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about
when assisting with procedures and/or using department
equipment./n/t - Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with
frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting
deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close
supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from
other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity
schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail/n/t -
