Central State Hospital (CSH) is in Milledgeville, the lake country of central Georgia and is Georgia's antebellum capital. CSH is approximately 2 hours from Atlanta, 2 hours, and 30 minutes diplomafrom Savannah and 1 hour and 45 minutes from Augusta. Job Description:-- The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Provide direction and management to the Health Information Management (HIM) Department whose primary charge is to maintain control of complete and accurate medical records throughout the hospital. This position is responsible for compliance with Joint Commission Record of Care standards.
• Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines HIM staff.
• Provides input to develop and implement related policies and procedures.
• Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.
• Sets priorities and implements goals and objectives to meet or resolve identified issues.
• Participates in the development and administration of the HIM budget. Vacation :-- 15 days each year up to 5 years of service; 18 days each year from 5-10 years of service; 21 days each year for 10 + years of service Sick Leave : accrual at a rate of 10 hours per month (15 days each year) Holidays : the state of Georgia recognizes 12 paid holidays Retirement : 401(k) plan with a matching employer contribution and a Defined Benefit Pension Plan Tax Deferred Spending Accounts : Healthcare; Childcare We are a Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program qualified employer. FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT. Qualifications : Doctorate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of management/supervisory experience in health care services OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of management/supervisory experience in health care services. Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure. Preferred Qualifications - External : Preference will be given to candidates who meet the following qualifications: ---Registered Health Information Administrator or Technician (RHIA or RHIT) ---Three--(3) years of experience managing a HIM Department ---Experience to include supervision of staff-- ---Experience with hospital information system and electronic medical record systems
