This position is accountable for providing quality assurance
support to assigned programs and ensures that products are
designed, procured, and manufactured according to customer and
organizational quality requirements. Champions the organization's
Continuous Improvement initiatives and provides leadership for new
systems development, implementation, procedures, supplier
development and any related quality activity, while striving to
emulate best practices.
Essential Functions and Duties:
* Ensures product quality in assigned programs through fulfillment
of workmanship standards.
* Champions the Continuous Improvement initiatives that are
on-going by leading DMAIC teams, conducting employee training, and
facilitating problem-solving sessions. Trains others in areas of
proficiency or expertise.
* Works closely with the customer and ensures that customer's needs
are addressed in terms of product quality and improvement.
* Interacts with suppliers to ensure supplier capability in terms
of delivery, and product quality
* Coordinates new product launch activity which might include
Process FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP and Inspection Sheets for new and
existing programs if and when required.
* Ensures that suppliers are evaluated, monitored and developed by
conducting supplier evaluations, tracking and reporting of supplier
performance, and sharing of best practices and continuous
improvement methodologies to improve supplier capabilities.
* Works in conjunction with Purchasing to coordinate new product
procurement and/or outsourcing activities with suppliers, including
supplier selection, evaluation and capability analysis
* Reviews, identifies and reports quality problems or trends based
on data from a variety of sources to prevent or reduce defects and
determine problem causes. Failures may be attributable to errors in
design, workmanship, documentation, defective parts or defective
material, both within the organization and with suppliers.
* Recommends and coordinates appropriate corrective and preventive
actions to quality problems with representatives from a variety of
functional and cross-functional groups on multiple shifts,
customers, or vendor contacts.
* Conduct internal audits, creating audits findings reports and
determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
* Understands and follows all organizational policies, procedures
and rules, ensuring that all laws are obeyed and equal employment,
safety and environmental protection are practiced.
* Train others in areas of proficiency or expertise.
* Model and promote the SPX Leadership Standards to create an
environment that mobilizes empowered people to achieve business

BS degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology.
A minimum of three years of work experience as an Engineer is
preferred with a clear understanding of Quality concepts and tools,
in a high volume, high mix, and manufacturing environment.
Must have interacted with Customers, Suppliers and have experience
in Continuous Improvement and Supplier Development Programs such as
Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Quality Systems such as ISO 9000,
QS 9000 etc.
Quality Engineer, Green Belt or Black Belt ASQ certification is
Internal Auditor Certification is desired.
