Place to Work. Summary We are seeking a Project or Staff Land
Surveyor to join and contribute to the growth of our Survey Group
in Illinois. In this role, you will support and/or lead land
surveying tasks for a variety of projects, including residential
and commercial subdivisions, roadway and municipal improvements,
plats, and legal descriptions. You’ll work collaboratively with HR
Green project managers, engineers, clients, and contractors to
deliver accurate and high-quality results. This position is open to
candidates at multiple experience levels: Project Land Surveyor
(PLS) : Licensed professional responsible for managing survey tasks
and delivering technically sound products that exceed client
expectations, often with minimal supervision. Staff Land Surveyor
(Surveyor-in-Training) : Early-career professional focused on
supporting survey efforts, gaining field and office experience, and
developing toward professional licensure. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities Both levels may: Conduct or assist with research
of public records related to land surveys. Perform or assist with
field surveys for boundary, topographic, or construction purposes.
Prepare or support preparation of easement descriptions, easement
plats, and legal descriptions. Assist in generating plats for land
surveys and subdivision platting. Ensure quality, accuracy, and
compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Maintain
accurate field notes, data files, and project documentation.
Additional responsibilities by level: Project Land Surveyor: Lead
and oversee survey crews and office staff in completing project
tasks. Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, coordinating
directly with clients and internal teams. Identify and address
technical, schedule, or financial issues proactively. Contribute to
proposal preparation, including estimating time and costs for
survey services. Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior
staff. Staff Land Surveyor / Surveyor-in-Training: Assist senior
surveyors with field data collection and drafting. Support boundary
analysis, calculations, and preparation of plats under supervision.
Participate in professional development and training toward
licensure. Education and Experience Project Land Surveyor: Minimum
of five (5) years of progressive experience in land surveying.
Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in the applicable
state, or ability to obtain licensure within six months. Staff Land
Surveyor / Surveyor-in-Training: Bachelor’s degree or associate
degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related
field. 5 years of relevant experience. EIT, SIT, or eligibility to
pursue professional licensure preferred. Both levels: Proficiency
with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and other surveying or engineering
tools. Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and legal
descriptions. Valid state driver’s license required. Physical
Demands / Work Environment Must be capable of carrying up to 40
pounds of equipment over all types of terrain and in all weather
conditions. Must be able to traverse project sites including
industrial, commercial, and undeveloped ground. Must be willing to
travel on short- or long-term assignments to client locations as

Staff Land Surveyor II/III (Surveyor-in-Training):
$65,500.00-111,750.00 Project Land Surveyor I/II:
$78,450.00-128,200.00 The expected compensation range for this
position is displayed in accordance with the Illinois Salary
Transparency amendment to the Equal Pay Act of 2003. The final
agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including
but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills,
prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location.
The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary
and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our
performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s). HR Green
