Job Description:

A recognized consumer products organization in Illinois is currently seeking an experienced Accounting professional to join their staff as their new Director of Operational Accounting. In this role, the Director of Operational Accounting will be responsible for overseeing the operational accounting functions and ensuring accurate and efficient transactional accounting processes. Responsibilities:The Director of Operational Accounting will:

• Oversee the day-to-day operational accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger activities
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, adherence to accounting policies and procedures, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards
• Monitor and review the reconciliation and analysis of key balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and standardization within operational accounting functions
• Streamline workflows and implement best practices to increase efficiency and reduce errors
• Evaluate and implement accounting software or systems enhancements to improve operational accounting processes and reporting
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls within operational accounting functions to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
• Lead and manage a team of operational accountants, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
• Perform other duties, as neededQualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in Operational Accounting
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of Accounting principles, standards, and practices
  • Experience with Operational Accounting functions.
  • Working knowledge of Financial systems and software
  • Strong understanding of Internal Controls & Compliance requirements
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organizedDesired Skills:
    • Master's Degree
    • CPA or parts passed
    • Previous experience in a Leadership role
    • Experience in implementing or enhancing Accounting Systems
